Tasmanian Premier Declares State of Emergency, Tighter Border Controls

In his Facebook Live update this morning, the Premier of Tasmania Peter Gutwein has declared Tasmania will enter a State of Emergency with powers handed to Commissioner Darren Hine.  This follows the declaration of a Public Health Emergency earlier this week.

The Premier announced tighter controls on Tasmanain borders, with the requirement that any person entering the State, from mindnight on Friday, will be subject to quarantine measures of 14 days.  The TTA has been in communication with the Premier’s office and is working with our members to ensure freight and logistics is supported at this time.  The quarantine measures will exempt essential services including freight.

The TTA will continue to work closely with the Tasmanian Government and provide updates and information to industry and support to our Members.
